The “Shukhov Tower” Foundation considers it necessary to draw attention of the public, of the administrative and commercial bodies to the state protection and restoration of a few memorials of industrial architecture located in Krasnodar region. The memorials of industrial culture emphasize the noble contribution of Russia to the development of North Caucasus, they are the tourist places of attraction and their significance becomes especially high in connection with the winter Olympic Games to be held in the city of Sochi.

On June 12 the presentation of the “Garage” Center of modern culture (CCC-Moscow Garage) was held in the gigantic building of the former Bakhmetjev bus park. The garage was built in 1926-1927 under the project of the great architects Konstantin Melnikov and Vladimir Shukhov and is a rare memorial of the constructivism architecture. The Bakhmetjev garage was restored by the Federation of Jewish communities of Russia. The CCC-Moscow garage project is financed by Roman Abramovich and is supervised by Darya Zhukova.

On March 19 there will be 86 years since the TV and radio tower in Shabolovka, Moscow was put into operation. During the last year the organizations responsible for preservation of the memorial of architecture of not only Russian but also of a world heritage did nothing to restore the lattice hyperboloid tower-shell and to turn it into a full-value tourist object. At the same time the steel construction continues to destroy slowly an soon may be completely lost!

The Foundation’s statement about the examination and restoration of the Shukhov tower in Moscow.  In the first half of October the mass media published advertisements and interviews that considered the repair of the Shukhov tower in Moscow without setting free the adjacent territory and with building of various structures, not foreseen by the V.G. Shukhov’s design, into the tower’s foundation. The building of foreign structures into the architectural memorial will turn it into a sham. The Foundation’s council and the European experts consider such renovation unacceptable and unworthy of the great masterpiece of the world’s architecture. Any actions to preserve the Shukhov tower in Shabolovka, Moscow are impossible without serious examination of the condition of the architectural memorial’s structures. The Foundation collects the funds of sponsors to make the examination of the tower.

The jubilee of the V.G.Shukhov technical university in Belgorod. On September 18 Vladimir Fyodorovich Shukhov, President of the “Shukhov tower” Foundation took part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov Belgorod state technical university. Before the beginning of festivities V.F. Shukhov together with his daughter Sofia visited Graivoron, the town where the great V.G. Shukhov was born. The main purpose of the visit to Graivoron was to discuss the idea of creating the Shukhov museum which was put forward by the administration of the area.

The “Shukhov tower” Foundation continues its project for the salvation of Shukhov tower on Oka River and the world’s first overhead covers-shells of V.G. Shukhov’s design in Vyksa. The delegation of German and Austrian scientists head by Professor Reiner Graefe, Director of Institute for the history of construction and protection of the architectural memorials at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) arrived to Nizhniy Novgorod in order to prepare for the repair works at the 128–meter tower-bearing of the NiGRES electric main. At same time the European scientists will take part in the development of a program for the restoration of unique steel lattice overhead covers-shells of double curvature built by Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov over the steel-rolling workshop of Vyksa metallurgical works.

In 2007, under the initiative of the Union of Scientific and Engineering Associations (USEA) of Russia, Moscow State Technical University n.a. N.E. Bauman (MSTU) and the Shukhov Tower Foundation the monument to the ingenious Russian engineer Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov will be erected in the Sretensky boulevard in Moscow.

The initiative has found support in the Government of Moscow. The Moscow mayor Yuriy Mikhailovich Luzhkov has made a decision to erect the monument to Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov.

The financial support is needed to erect the monument.

We will be grateful to everybody who participates in immortalizing the memory of our great compatriot.
